Our group currently has two Ashtech Z12 receivers (the same model used by the SCIGN network) and related equipments.
Everyone can participate in a GPS observation. Our past members include Professors, post-doctoral researchers, visiting scholars, graduate students, and undergraduate students. As long as you have the time and energy, we will show you the "how-to". We welcome you to join us in one of our future survey ! For more information, please contact Dr. Zhengkang Shen.
We went to the field day and night, near and far, in weather hot and freezing, wet and dry. Some sites we had to camp and hike with heavy equipments, for others we set the antenna receiver up and left, returning on another day.
A lot of work has to be done before a survey, most important are site scouting, applying for site permits, and logisitics. Of course, man power as well as proper training are just as important.
We are really having fun in the field and feeling good that we are doing something important in understanding the deformation of our crust.
